How are Reviews Received?
Three days after buying an item from the Marketplace, customers who have chosen to receive emails from Walmart will receive an email asking them to give reviews for both the Marketplace seller and the product. Walmart will send another email after seven days if the customer doesn’t open this one.
Consumers who have not agreed to receive these emails will not be prompted to leave a review; however, they may still do so via the item’s website or their purchase history.
The specific ratings and reviews for your product are shown on the Items dashboard in Seller Centre. The Ratings and Reviews dashboard in Seller Centre displays your average seller rating as well as specific feedback from customers.
What are Review Sources?
Reviews appear on Walmart.com under the reviewer’s name in the form of footnotes or badges, and they come from a variety of sources. Details about the kinds of reviews you might see are shown in the table below.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I email customers to request feedback on items they have purchased?
A: No. Soliciting feedback, offering a gift card in exchange for a review or including any promotional inserts in packages is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate account suspension or termination.
Q: Can I send customers a sample item for review?
A: Yes, by working with one of Walmart’s third-party approved sampling vendors:
- Field Agent
- The Brand Power Company
- Bazaarvoice
For additional information about these tools and review samples, review the Walmart Review Policy.
Q: Why are my reviews missing?
A: When reviews are not displaying on Walmart.com it is usually the result of a product family issue or syndication issue:
- Product families enable the sharing of reviews across items that have variants such as size, color, fabric, etc. Product families must be set up and maintained by the merchandising team. Contact your merchant for assistance if reviews are not shared between variants.
- Syndication facilitates the sharing of reviews from a supplier or brand website to Walmart.com. Items must be set up with an item ID and UPC in both the supplier’s catalog and the Walmart catalog. If your syndicated reviews are not displaying, check your catalog to ensure that these necessary data points are present.
Q: How long does it take for a new seller or product review to post on Walmart.com?
A: New reviews will appear on the listing within five to seven business days. If a review is not posted within that time, it may have violated one of the review guidelines.
Q: Can customer reviews help with search engine optimization (SEO) and conversion?
A: Yes. Reviews may help you boost brand awareness and drive customer confidence, leading to better SEO results and conversions.
Q: I want to remove a review from my listing. What should I do?
A: To request the removal of a review, see Request to Remove a Review.
